Trimming the Blogroll

"I already know an awful lot of people and until one of them dies I couldn't possibly meet anyone else."
~Audrey Hepburn to Cary Grant in Charade

I have spent the entire day today wanting to sit down and write. I have so very many things I want to write about. I am thinking about lies and blame and addiction. I am thinking about television and raising children. I am thinking about Hillary Clinton. I am thinking about grief and loss. I am thinking about curriculum night at my son's school and how difficult and scary and otherworldly it was for Mark and me. But now that the carpet in the kids' room is finally steam cleaned and the grocery shopping is done and the kids have run themselves out at the park and Mark's Saturday 12 Step meeting is over and everyone is in bed, I don't have any energy left to put into writing. I hope it will come tomorrow.

Tonight, I am going to throw myself into a mindless administrative task: updating my blogroll. I need to add a few blogs and subtract a few blogs. A while back, I instituted some rules regarding the blogroll, and I've decide to amend those rules. I've been adding the blogs of commenters, but I really want reward my regular readers, so to stay on the blogroll, keep commenting. It doesn't have to be super frequent, just once a day should be fine. Oh, ok, occasionally. I don't know every few weeks, once a month, something like that... I hate to say it, because I'm a codie and I don't want to lose any of you, but the blogroll is getting crowded.

Yay, Yay, Yay, I'm in!!!!!!! Something to add to my gratitude list. ;-) More than that, though, I am TRULY grateful for your insight and support when you comment on MY blog. And I'm grateful to have become a part of this community.

I'm on your blogroll, yay! Thanks.

I am with you on the energy level. I am so overwhelmed right now with major changes going on (both personal and in the blogosphere) that I just can't seem to get my thoughts straight...and I know writing will help with that...but I am too tired to focus...even though I just had a sample session with a life coach yesterday and it was all about 'focus' (grin).

From your intro into this post there is a lot of great stuff there that I am interested in hearing about. Especially your thoughts on curriculum night.

I haven't gotten the email kinks worked out at my new place but this gives me a chance to come by and say hello and stay on your blogroll (grin). I stopped having a blogroll about a year ago. I did a Google Analytics on my site and found that people would click the commenters and no one ever used the blogroll. This might help pare down your administrative tasks ;)

Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for stopping by my new place and for the compliments. I was going to design it myself but Heather had this incredible vision and it was awesome. I don't look like a 'gloomy gus' anymore ;)

Enjoy your weekend and get some rest!!!

I am happy to see that I maintained a place on the blog roll even though I am not the greatest at commenting- this is because I am so caught up waiting for comments on my blog- which, you have been fabulous about. Even if it's because I have been appealing to your inner geek. Shameless I am ;)

Ok, I said I trimmed my blogroll, but actually, I just added to it, because my husband came down from putting our son to bed just as I started trimming, so I quit. But I am leaving you on, Mantra! ;)

Danielle, I imagine the blogroll doesn't generate many clicks, but I like it because:

-When I was a blogging newbie I used to visit the blogs on people's blogrolls as a way to find new blogs to read. I, um, don't have that problem anymore.

-It's a way of rewarding my regular commenters with a little link love.

-I use it to help me find and keep track of my favorite blogs. Yes, there's Google reader, but I actually tend to use my blogroll when I am popping in for a quick random visit.

Maybe all that will change someday, and it will be more of a hassle than it's worth for me too, but for now I enjoy it.

Not a blogger myself, but I love the blog roll.

    Go sleep away your headache.

Please don't dump me! I have been too busy to even post at my own site...

You're cute! With all the time I spend in this hospital, I hardly have any time left to read my favorite blogs and when I'm done reading, I'm too tired and full of words to comment. But being the codie that I am, I don't want to be thrown out of your blogroll, of course ;)

I found two of your comments in my spam filter and restored them. Thank you for stopping by ever so often, I'll have to write a post about this, too.

    Faraway hugs.
