Well, I don't like most jokes, but some are good natured-maybe those aren't the "practical" kind? Like my college roommate and I started hiding shoulder pads in each other's things. I'd put a couple in her bookbag so that when she was in class and pulled out her books, shoulder pads would fall on the floor. And she hid some in my lunch. I don't think that was mean.

But I agree that most jokes are mean and I rarely do them (as it is I had to think back to college to remember one).

I'm not a big fan of practical jokes either. being a Codie myself I completely get what you're saying.

Well MPJ, I'm starting to wonder if you are just a figment of my imagination. A ghost writer of sorts, that I created to write (very well, very eloquently) about all the things I think. This is exactly how I feel about practical jokes. What's so funny, really, about someone being trusting? And then having that trust broken? Why is that funny? And why is someone "stupid" for being trusting?

Oy.

Anyway, as for the rest of the story, I remember taking note of the irony about the date of April Fool's Day being the day your H hit bottom. You two may be the only "fools" who celebrate this down the road in a more spiritual holiday sense.

I’m with you when it comes to practical jokes. They never seem funny to me ever. Such 'jokes' are things I've never missed in ‘retirement’ … though some of the silly ‘verbal jokes’ younger kids tell as they learn about April Fools Day were kind of cute at times.

As for 'not so practical jokes' from the universe … the unconscious is a powerful thing is it not? I’m glad you guys have managed to maintain your relationship through all the challenges.

I don't know if it was exactly a bad joke as it started a new life. Granted, you never know what lies under practical jokes. We all know there is truth in them somewhere... it was the joke that started a revolution.
