Sorry. That was awkwardly worded. I don't believe she should have been fired on the spot. Although I can see that that's what I implied. Oops!

I know such a course of action is not possible, even if it were appropriate, and I don't actually think it's appropriate to fire someone based on one news report and a lot of public uproar. While it is appropriate to take the time to investigate the circumstances oneself.

Hm, I'll have to think about how to reword that to make it clear. Mostly I just liked the word half-assedly.

To be completely fair, as much as it pains me to do so, a school system can't just fire a teacher with a union contract, and most of the time, that's a *good* thing. Much simpler just to make her miserable until she quits. I hope her new job requires her to come in at 5:00 a.m. to call around for substitute teachers.

I don't know if that's half-assed of them. Because I think administrative jobs are hell. But that's just me.
